Eat Fat to Lose Fat!

One thing people do when dieting is cut down how much they eat. This can be seriously problematic – you will be hungry and probably starving yourself of essential nutrients. You are also likely to fall off the wagon and binge on sugary/processed foods and carbs to feel better.

A better solution is to eat the right kinds of foods.

One of these is fat based foods – yes you heard me right!

Take an avocado – 100 grams of this food contains 15% fat, or 135 calories. The good thing is only 2% of this is saturated fat. The other 13% is heart healthy mono and polyunsaturated. These fats are more easily used for energy, not stored as fat. They also contain healthy omega 3 fats which are the most lacking of important fats in the modern diet.

A perfect snack for me is 1 Avocado sliced up with a sprinkle of sea salt and a drop of good olive oil over it. This really helps keep the hunger off and has no unnecessary side effects.

Avocados also contain Protein, Fibre, Vitamin C, B6, Potassium and Magnesium – A truly whole food.
